A cyclist speeding at `6ms^(-1)` in a circle of 18 m radius makes an angle `theta `with the vertical. Calculate `theta`. Also determine the minimum possible value of the coefficient of friction between the tyres and the ground?

Text Solution

Given, `v=6ms^(-1),r 18m,g=9.8ms^(-2)`.
Since, `tantheta=(v^(2))/(rg)rArr tantheta=(6xx6)/(18xx9.8)=0.2041`
`rArr" "theta=tan^(-1)(0.2041)rArrtheta=11^(@)32'`
Also, minimum possible value of coefficient of friction
`mu=tantheta=(v^(2))/(rg)=0.2041rArrmu=0.2041`
