A ray incident at a point at an angle of incidence of `60^(@)` enters a glass sphere with refractive index `sqrt(3)` and it is reflected and refracted at the farther surface of the sphere. The angle between the reflected and refracted rays at this surface is:

A

`50^(@)`

B

`90^(@)`

C

`60^(@)`

D

`40^(@)`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

(b) The angle between the reflected ray and refracted ray
is `(120^(@)-theta)`.

For calclation of `theta`
`mu_(1)sini=mu_(2)sinr`
`1xxsin 60^(@)=sqrt(3)sin theta`
`(sqrt(3))/2=sqrt(3)sin theta`
`sin theta=1/2=sin 30^(@)`
`theta=30^(@)`
Hence `(120^(@)-30^(@))=90^(@)`
