The grey matter from a column running along the central part of the spinal canal (= neurocoel, lined with ciliated fluid, running along the central part of the grey matter Grey matter is composed of nerve cells, bodies, dendrities and synapae. The white matter forms an outer column surrounding the grey matter at its centre.
