In case of polyatomic gases, a part of energy supplied is used in increasing the internal energy of the system, and thus some additional energy is needed to raise the temperature of the gas through `1^(@)C`. It means that the heat capacity (amount of heat required to rasie the temperature of the system by `1^(@)C`) is higher in case of polyatomic gases as compared to that for monatomic gases.
