Domestic sewage mostly contains biodegradable organic matter which readily decompose by micro oranisms for biodegradation of organic matter. Micro organism consume lot of `O_(2)` resulting sharp decline of dissolved `O_(2)` in river/ water body. Thus BOD will increase.
