One coolie takes 1min to raise a box through a height of `2m`. Another one takes `30s` for the same job and does the same amount of work. Which one of the two has greater power and which one uses greater enegy?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Power of first coolie = `("Work")/("time") = (M xx g xx S)/(t) `
`= (M xx 9.8 xx 2 )/(60) J s^(-1)`
Power of second coolie = `(M xx 9.8 xx 2 )/(30) J s^(-1) = 2 `
`((M xx 9.8 xx 2)/(60)) J s^(-1) = 2 xx` Power of first coolie
So, the power of the second coolie is double that of the first . Both the coolies spend the same amount of energy.
we know that W = Pt
for the same work ,
W = `rho_(1) t_(1) = P_(2) t_(2)`
or `" " (P_(2))/(P_(1)) = (t_(1))/(t_(2)) = (1 "minute" )/( 30 s ) = 2 `
or `" " P_(2) = 2P_(1) `
