Sodium carbonat,decahydrate commonly known as washing soda, `Na_2CO_3.10H_2O` upon heating, it looses the water of crystallisation to form monohydrate. Above 373K, the monohydrate becomes completely anyhydrous and changes to a white powder called soda ash.
