Benzene and polycylic aromatic hydrocarbon `(PAH)` are ubiquitous envirnomental pollutants generated during incomplete combustion of coal oil, pertrol and wood. Some `PAH` originate from open burning, natural seepage of petroleum and cool deposits and volcanic activities. They are toxic, mutagenic and carciongenic. It has hematological. immunological and neurological eect on humans. They are radiomimetic and prolonged exposure leads to genetc damage.
Some of the examples of `PAH` are given below.
`"L"` shaped polynuclear hydrocarbons are much more toxic & carcinogenic.

Found in cigarette smoke Found in tobacco and cigarette and charocal boiled food.
Found in gasoline exhaust and barbecued food.
