Give reason for thhe following
(i) `Mn^(3)` is a good oxidising agent.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

(i) `Mn^(3+) // Mn^(2+)` has large positive `E^(@)` valute hence `Mn^(3+)` can be easily reduced to `Mn^(2+)` because `Mn^(2+)` has half- filled electronic configuration so it is stable and `Mn^(3+)` is least stable .It is a good oxidising agent.
