Predict the major product, when 2-methyl but-2-ene is converted into an alcohol in each of the following methods.
(i) Acid catalysed hydration.
(ii) Hydroboration
(iii) Hydroxylation using Bayer's reagent.

(i) Acid catalysed hydration.

(ii) Hydroboration:
Diborane reacts with an alkene to form trialkyl borane which on treatment with `H_(2)O_(2)` in presence of NaOH gives an alcohol. The overall reactions is hydration of an alkene. This reaction yields an anti-Markownikoff's product.
