Using a screw gauge the thickness of a wire was measured as 5 mm. Calculate (i) the fractional error (ii) the percentage error.
Given data:
Thickness of wire (t)`=5` mm
Accuracy `Deltat=0.01mm`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

(i)Fractional error `=delta_(t)=(Deltat)/t=0.01/5=0.002`
(ii) Percentage error `=delta_(t)=(Deltat)/txx100%`
`=0.002xx100%=0.02%`
