(i) Steam at high pressure is made to enter the cylinder of vacuum brake.
(ii) Due to high velocity, pressure decreases in accordance with Bernoulli's principle.
(iii) Due to this decrease in pressure, the piston gets lifted. Consequently brake gets lifted.
