A man of 50 kg is standing on the school play ground at Trichy. The latitude of Trichy is `10.8^(@)`.
Calculate the centrifugal force experienced by the man.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`m=50kg , theta =10.8`,
`R- " radius of the earth " =6400xx 10^(3)m`
Centrifugal force `F_c= m omega^2 R cos theta`.
The angular velocity `(omega)` of earth `=(2pi)/(T)`
`omega = (2pi)/(T)`
T- time period of the earth (24 hours)
`= (2pi)/(24xx60xx60)= (2pi)/(86400)= 7.268 5 10^(-5)" rad "sec^(-1)`
`:. F_c = 50 xx (7.268xx10^(-5))^2xx 6400xx10^(3)xx cos 10.8`
`F_c = 1.66 N`.
