The de Broglie wavelength associated wit...

The de Broglie wavelength associated with an electron accelerated through a potential differenece V is `lambda`. What will be its wavelength when the accelerating potential is increased to 4V ?

Text Solution

`(lambda )/( 2)`
Reason`:` de Broglie wavelength assciated with electron is
`lambda = ( h )/( sqrt( 2m qV)) rArr lambda prop ( 1)/( sqrt(V))`
Obviously when accelerating potential becomes 4V, the de-Broglie wavelength reduces to half.
