Depolarization means reversal of polarit...

Depolarization means reversal of polarity. Mention the ionic charge on both sides of axolemma.

Depolarization - Reversal of polarity :
1. When a nerve fibre is stimulated sodium voltage- gaate opens and makes the axelemma permeable to `Na^(+)` ions, meanwhile the potassium voltage gate closes.
2. As a result, the rate of flow of `Na^(+)` ions into the axoplasm exceeds the rate of flow of `K^(+)` ions to the outside fluid (ECF). Therefore, the axolemma becomes positively charged inside the negatively charged outside.
