Calculate the coefficient of cubical exp...

Calculate the coefficient of cubical expansion of a zinc bar whose volue is increased `0.25 m^(3)` from `0.3 m^(3)` due to change in its temperature of 50K.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Given: Volume of the zinc bar V = 0.3 ` m^(3)`
Change in temperature `DeltaV = 0.25 m^(3)`
Change in temperature `DeltaT = 50K`
To find : Coefficient of cubic expansion = ?
`(DeltaV)/(V) = alpha_(v)DeltaT,alpha_(v) = (DeltaV)/(V.Deltat)`
`alpha_(v) = (0.25)/(0.3xx50) = (0.25)/(15) = 0.0166 K^(-1)`
Coefficient of cubical expansion,
`alpha_(v) = 0.0166 K^(-1)`
