How does the repulsive force between the two deuterium atoms overcome during nuclei fusion process ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

(i) If the charge of both the nucleus is positive, according to electrostatic theory, when they come closer they tend to repel each other.
(ii) This repulsive force will be overcome by the kinetic energy of the nuclei at higher temperature of the order of `19^(7) "to" 10^(9)` K.
