Why should the light dependent reaction occur before the light independent reaction?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

During light dependent process photosynthetic pigments absorb the light energy, and convert it into chemical energy ATP and `NADPH_2` . This reaction occurs in the presence of light in the grana of chloroplast.
(ii) During light independent reaction `CO_2` is reduced into carbohydrates with the help of hght generated ATP and `NADPH_2`.This occurs in stroma of chloroplast.
(iii)Thus light dependent reaction occurs before the light independent reaction.
