Reason : The plants and trees in the forest photosynthesis and thereby reduce the `CO_(2)` concentration in the air . If `CO_(2)` concentration in the air increases , it will lead to global warming and have severe consequences . Therefore plants and trees in the forest are a channel to absorb `CO_(2)` and act as a carbon sink.
