Why do we call the seeds of Gymnosperms as naked ?

Explanation

1. As in gymnosperms , the fertilized ovule becomes the seed but there is no ovary to bring about fruit formation.
2. The ovules are naked and directly borne on the cone. So they are called naked seedel plants.
