Write a note on carbon foot print.

Explanation

(i) This Carbon foot print is the total amount of green house gases produced by human activities such as agriculture, industries,deforestation , waste disposal, buring fossil fuels directly or indirectly.
(ii) It can be measured for an individual,family, organisation like industries, state level or national level.
(iii) It is usually estimated and expressed in equivalent tons of `CO_(2)` per year.
(iv) The burning of fossil fuels releases `CO_(2)` and other green house gases.
(v) In turn these emissions trap solar energy and thus increase the global temperature resulting in global warming.
(vi) To reduce the carbon foot print we can follow some practices like
(a) Eating indigenous fruits and products.
(b) Reduce use of your electronic devices
(c) Reduce travelling.
(d) Do not buy fast and preserved, processed, packed foods.
(e) Plant a garden.
(f) Less consumption of meat and seafood. Poultry requires little space, nutrients and less pollution comparing cattle farming.
(g) Reduce use of Laptops (when used for 8 hours, it releases nearly 2 kg. of `CO_(2)` annually)
(h) Line dry your clothes.
Example: Purchases of imported fruit like kiwi, indirectly increases carbon foot print due to `CO_(2)` emissions during transport.
