Explain the variation of temperature with heat for water at 1 atm with a graph.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Water boils at a constant temperature of `100^(@)` C at sea level and requires a minimum of heat equal to the latent heat of steam `(L_("steam")=2.26xx10^6Jkg^(-1))`. The temperature of steam go beyond `100^(@)`C and heat content beyond `2.26xx10^6Jkg^(-1)`. (Hence steam causes more heat injury than boiling water on the skin)
