A bat emits ultrasound waves of frequency 1000kHz in air. If the sound meets a water surface, what is the wavelength of the reflected sound. Speed of sound in air is `340ms^(-1)` and in water `1486ms^(-1)`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Given `f = 1000 xx 10^(3) Hz, v = 340ms^(-1), v _(W ) = 1486 ms^(-1)`
Wavelength of sound,` lambda = ( v)/( f )= ( 340)/( 10^(6))`
`lambda = 3.4 xx 10^(-4)m`
i.e.wavelength of reflected sound `= 3.4 xx 10^(-4) m`.
