A wave travelling along a string is described by `Y( x,t) = 0.005 sin ( 80 x - 3t) ` in which the numerical constants are in SI units. Calculate wavelength

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Given `y ( x,t ) = 0.005 sin ( 80 x - 3t) m`
Comparing this equation with
`y ( x,t )=A sin ( k x - omega t ) ` we get,
`k =( 2pi)/( lambda) = 80`
`:. Lambda = ( 2 xx 3.142 )/( 80) = 0.0785 m`
