If the mass of the earth is 100 times that of the moon and its diameter 5 times that of moon, compare the weight of a body on the surface of the moon with its weight on the surface of the earth.

Given, `M_E=100 M, D_E=5 D_M , R_E=5R_M`
`g_m=(GM_m)/(R_m^2)=(G(M_g))/(100)xx(1)/(((R_E)/(5))^2)=(1)/(4)((GM_E)/(R_E^2))=(1)/(4)g_E`
`therefore g_m=(g_E)/(4)`. Weight of a body on moon is `((1)/(4))` times the weight of that body on Earth.
