In young's double slit experiment, the total width of 10 fringes is observed as `2xx10^(-3) m` and the slits are separated by the distance of `2xx10^(-3) m` . Find the distance between the slits and the screen, when a light of wavelength 6000 `overset(@)A` is used.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Given `10 beta = 2xx10^(-3) m` so that `beta=0.2 xx10^(-3) m `
`d=2 xx10^(-3), lambda=6xx10^(-7) m, D=?`
We know that `beta=(lambdaD)/(d)`
i.e. `0.2xx10^(-3)=(6xx10^(-7))/(2xx10^(-3)) D`

How does fringe width vary with distance between the double slit and the screen?

In a Young’s double slit experiment, the angular width of a fringe formed on distant screen is 0.1^@ . The wave length of light used is 6000 overset@A . What is the spacing between the slits ?

Youngs double slit experiment is performed with light of wavelength 550 nm. The separation between the slits is 1.10 mm and the screen is placed at a distance of 1 m. The distance between the consecutive bright and dark fringes is

In Young's double slit experiment the slits are separated by 0.28mm and the screen is placed at a distance of 1.4m away from the slits. The distance between the central bright fringe and the fifth dark fringe is measured to be 1.35cm . Calculate the wavelength of the light used. Also find the fridge width if the screen is moved towards the slits by 0.4m , for the same experimental set up.

In the Youngs double slit experiment, the separation between the slits is halved and the distance between the slits and the screen is doubled, the fringe width will be :
