Calculate the fringe width of the interf...

Calculate the fringe width of the interference pattern. Given wavelength of light used `=678` nm, distance between the slits `=0.35 `mm, distance between the screen and the double slit = 1 m.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Given `lambda=678xx10^(-9) m , d=3.5xx10^(-4) m `
`D=1 m `
We know that the fringe width `beta=(lambda D)/(d)`
i.e., `beta=(678xx10^(-9)xx1)/(3.5xx10^(-4))=1.937xx10^(-3) m `
Fringe width obtained will be `1.937 xx10^(-3)` m.

A beam of light consisting of two wavelengths 500 nm and 400 nm is used to obtain interference fringes in Young's double slit experiment. The distance between the slits is 0.3 mm and the distance between the slits and the screen is 1.5 m. Compute the least distance of the point from the central maximum, where the bright fringes due to both the wavelengths coincide.

A beam of light consisting of two wave lengths 4200 Å and 5600 Å is used to obtain interference fringes in Young's double slit experiment. The distance between the slits is 0.3 mm and the distance between the slits and the screen is 1.5 m. Compute the least distance of the point from the central maximum, where the bright fringes due to both the wavelengths coincide.

Light of wavelength 6000 overset(@)A is used to obtain interference fringe of width 6 mm in a young's double slit experiment. Calculate the wavelength of light required to obtain fringe of width 4 mm if the distance between the screen and slits is reduced to half of its initial value.

In a Young.s double slit experiment wave length of light used is 5000 A and distance between the slits is 2mm, distance from slits is 1m. Find fringe width and also calculate the distance of 7^(th) dark fringe from central birght fringe.
