Where do you find passage cells ? What are the functions ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Some of the cells which are present in the endodermis of roots just opposite to the protoxylem vessels are called passage cells or transfusion cells. They have no casparian strips.
These cells are thin walled and retain their living protoplasts. They provide a passage for water and solutes between the cortex and vascular tissues.
