What are the characteristics of prokaryotic cells.

Characteristics of prokaryotic cell are as follows
(i) Prokaryotic cell are smaller.
(ii) They have cell wall, cell membrane and cytoplasm. They do not have a well defined nucleus.
(iii) Few prokaryotes like bacteria have an additional small circular DNA called plasmids.
(iv) Prokaryotic cell does not contain membrane bound organelles as found in eukaryotes except ribosomers
(v) A specialised differentiated form of cell membrane called mesosome is found in prokaryotes.
