Apomixis :
1. It is a form of asexual reproduction, that mimies sexual reproduction, where seeds are formed without fertilisation. It is also known as agamospermy .
2. Apomictic seeds may be formed in one or more of the following ways:
(a) A diploid egg cell (formed without inejosis during megasporogenesis) may develop in an embryo without fertilisation.
(b) Cells of the nucellus (diploid) surrounding the embryo may develop into embryos and become pushed into the embryo sac.g. Citrus, mango.
