Fishery is a kind of industry which is concerned with the catching, processing or selling of fish, shell fish (prawn and molluscs) or other aquatic animals such as crab, lobster, edible oyster, etc. A large section of the Indian population uses fish and many other aquatic animals as food.
These animals serve as a cheap source of animal protein that is easily digestible. Thus, fishery play significant role in enhancement of food production.
