The methods employed in animal breeding are :
(i) inbreeding,
(ii) out breeding (such as out crossing, cross-breeding and inter-specific hybridization) and
(iii) controlled breeding (such as artificial insemination and multiple ovulation transfer).
Controlled breeding is the best method of animal breeding as it ensures good quality progeny. It is also economic as the semen obtained from a single bull can inseminate many cows housed at far off places.
