Differentiate between menstrual cycle and estrous cycle.

Explanation

Non primates like cows, sheeps, deer etc exhibit cyclic changes in their reproductive phase . called oestrous cycle. It consists of a short period of oestrus or heat period followed by prolonged anoestrus period or passive or rest period. The female receives the male for copulation only in heat period (seasonal breeders).
Primates like monkeys, apes and humans are continuous breeders. They breed throughout the year and their reproductive cycle is called menstrual cycle.
