Calculate the volume of concentrated nit...

Calculate the volume of concentrated nitric acid of normality 14 required to prepare `1 dm^(3)`of `N/10` nitric acid.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`underset("conc. Acid")(V_(1) xx N_(1)) = underset("dil. Acid")(V_(2) xx N_(2))`
Substituting we have `V_(1) xx 14 = 1000 xx 0.1`
`therefore V_(1) = (1000 xx 0.1)/14 = 7.14`
`therefore` Volume of concentrated nitric acid required `=7.14 cm^(3)`.
