On the basis of their electronic configurations, explain why alkali metals are highly reactive.

Alkali metals have general electronic configurations `ns^(1)` . They can lose 1 electron to acquire stable electronic configuration . They have large atomic size, therefore , they can lose electron easily and they are most reactive.
