Explain heat of neutralisation with an example.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Heat of neutralisation is the change in enthalpy produced when one gram equivalent weight of an acid is neutralised by one gram equivalent weight of a base in a dilute solution.
Example : `HCl(aq) + NaOH(aq) rarr NaCl(aq) + H_(2)O , Delta H = -57.3 kJ`.
