`H_(2)O_(2)` is better oxidising agent than water because (a) It oxidizes an acidified KI solution to `I_(2)` which gives blue colour with starch solution but water does not. (b) `H_(2)O_(2)` turns black PbS to white `PbSO_(4)` but water does not.
