What are monosaccharides ? Explain.

Explanation

Carbohydrates that cannot be hydrolysed further to give simpler units are  called  monosaccharides. 
If a monosaccharide contain aldehyde group then it is called aldose and if it Contain ketonic group then it is called ketoso.   
If the monosaccharide contain 3,4,5 and 6 carbon atoms then it is called trioses, tetroses, pentoses and hexoses.
  Example:
  Glucose  ` to ` Aldohexose , Fructose  ` to ` Ketohexose, Ribose  ` to ` Aldopentose.
