Two spheres are moving towards each other. Both have same radius but their masses are 2kg and 4kg. If the velocities are `4m//s` and `2m//s` respectively and coefficient of restitution is `e=1//3`, Find final velocities along line of impact.

Text Solution

In `DeltaABCsintheta=(BC)/(AB)=R/(2R)=1/2`
or `theta=30^(@)`

By conservation of momentum along line of impact.

`2(4cos30^(@))-4(2cos30^(@))=(2+4)v`
or v = 0 (common velocity along LOI)
