Find the values of `alpha` so that the point `P(alpha^2,alpha)` lies inside or on the triangle formed by the lines `x-5y+6=0,x-3+2=0a n dx-2y-3=0.`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Point`(alpha,alpha^2)` lies on the parabola `y^2=x`
We have to find the value of `alpha` for which the part of the parabola lies inside the triangle formed by the three lines.
Now, line `x+y=2` meets the parabola at the point `(0,0)` and `(1,1)`
Hence, `alpha in (0,1)`
