Find the equation of a line passing thro...

Find the equation of a line passing through `(1,2)` and making angle of `30^0` with y-axis .

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
`=> √3x – y - √3 + 2 = 0`

ATQ the line passing through points `(1, 2)` makes an angle of `30°` with y – axis.
`:.` Angle made by the line with x – axis would be `(90° - 30°) = 60°`
`:.` Slope of the line,` m = tan 60° = √3`
So,
The equation of the line passing through the point `(x1, y1)` and having slope `m` is
`y – y1 = m(x – x1)`
Here, `(x1, y1) = (1, 2)` and `m = √3`
`=> y – 2 = √3(x – 1)`
`=>y – 2 = √3x - √3`
`=> √3x – y - √3 + 2 = 0`
