A and B throw a pair of dice. If A throws 9, find B’s chance of throwing a higher number.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

A throws 9 and B throws a higher number thus, B throws `10, 11 or 12`
Total number of outcomes = `6xx6=36`
Number of favourable outcomes `= 6 [(4, 6), (5, 5), (6, 4), (5, 6), (6, 5), (6, 6)]`
P(B throwing a number greater than `9`
`=6/(36)=1/6`
