What is the length of a simple pendulum ...

What is the length of a simple pendulum which ticks second?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

From Eq. (14.29), the time periodm of a simple pendulum is given by,
`T = 2 pi sqrt((L)/(g))`
From this relation one gets,
`L = (gT^(2))/(4pi^(2))`
The time period of a simple pendulum, which thicks seconds, is 2s, Therefore, for `g = 9.8 ms^(-2) and T = 2s`, L is
`= (19("m s"^(-2))xx4(s^(2))/(4pi^(2))`
`= 1m`
