An iceberg is floating partially immersed in sea water the density of sea water is 1.03 `gm//cm^(3)` and that of ice is `0.92gm//cm^(3)` what is the fraction of the total volume of the iceberg above the level of sea-water?

In case of floation weight = upthrus i.e.
`mg=V_("in")rho_(L)g` or `Vrho_(B)g=V_("in")rho_(L)g`
[ as `rho_(B)=m//V` so `m=rho_(B)V`]
or `V_("in")=(rho_(B))/(rho_(L))V`
so `V_("out")=V-V_("in")=V(1-(rho_(B))/(rho_(L)))`
or`f_("out")=(V_("out"))/V=(1- (rho)/(sigma))`
`=(1-0.92/1.03)=0.11/1.03=0.106`
or `f_("out")=10.6%`
