Ten charged particles are kept fixed on ...

Ten charged particles are kept fixed on the X axis at point x = 10 mm, 20 mm, 30 mm, ......... 100 mm. The first particle has a charge `10^(-8)` C, the second `8 × 10^(-8) C,` the third `27 × 10^(-8)C `and so on. The tenth particle has a charge `1000 × 10^(-8)C`. Find the magnitude of electric force acting on a 1 C charge placed at the origin.

Force of 1 C charge `=(Kq_(1)xx1)/((10xx10^(-3))^(2))+(Kq_(2)xx1)/((20xx10^(-3))^(2))+(Kq_(3)xx1)/((30xx10^(-3))^(2))+......`
`=(Kxx10^(-8))/(10^(-4))[1^(3)/(1^(2))+2^3/2^2+3^3/3^2+......10^3/10^2]`
`9xx10^(9)xx10^(-4)xx55=4.95xx10^(7)` Nt
[This example explains that the concept of superposition holds in the case of electric forces. Net electric force at the origin is equal to sum of the individual electric forces on the 1 C charge]
