A charge Q is to be divided on two objects. What shouold. be the values of the charges on the objects so that the. force between the objects can be maximum?.

Let one body have charge q and other hence Q – q
Here force between the charges F `=(Kq(Q-q))/(r^2)`
For F to be maximum `(dF)/(dq)=0`

`d/(dq)=((KqQ)/(r^2)-(Kq^2)/(r^2))=0`
`(KO)/(r^2)-(2Kq)/(r^2)=0impliesq=Q/2`
Thus we have to divide charges equally on the objects.
