A compound formed by two elements M and ...

A compound formed by two elements `M` and `N`. Element `N` forms ccp and atoms of `M` occupy `1//3rd` of tetrahedral voids. What is the formula of th compound?

Suppose the atoms of N in the ccp = n, Number of tetrahedral voids = 2 n
As 1/3rd of the tetrahedral voids are occupied by atoms M, therefore, number of atoms `M = (2n)/(3)`
Ratio of `M:N = (2n)/(3): n = 2:3 ` Hence the formula is `N_(2)N_(2)` .
