The correct order of rates of C-Br bond ...

The correct order of rates of C-Br bond ionisation of the following bromides is

A

`(i)gt(ii)gt(iii)`

B

`(ii)gt(iii)gt(i)`

C

`(i)gt(iii)gt(ii)`

D

`(ii)gt(i)gt(iii)`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
D

The more stables carbocation, the more is the rate of C-Br ionisatin .
Among the given species,
Specle (ii) shows aromatic nature along with resnance , thus given most stable carbocation .
Specle (i) shows less stable carbocation due to absence of aromatic nature , it only shows resnance effect .
Specle (iii) is least stable because it is secondary carbocation which is stabilised by hyper conjugation . Hence, the correct order is ` ii gt i gt iii`.
