A volmeter of 250 mV range having resistance of `10 omega` is converted into an ammeter of 250 mA range. The value of necessary shunt is (nearly)

A

`2omega`

B

`0.1omega`

C

`1omega`

D

`10omega`

Text Solution

A voltmeter of 250 mV ranage having resistance of `10 omega`
`therefore " " V_(g) = GI_(g)`
`rArr = 250 xx 10^(-3) = 10 xx I_(g)`
`rArr " " I_(g) = 25 xx 10^(-3) A`
Shunt required to convert this voltmeter into ammeter.
`S=(G I_(g))/(I-I_(g))`
`=(10xx(25xx10^(-3)))/(250xx10^(-3)-25xx10^(-3))=(10)/(9)=1Omega`
