Assertion (A) : A current of 96.5 A is p...

Assertion (A) : A current of 96.5 A is passed into aqueous `AgNO_(3)` solution for 100s. The weight of silver deposited is 10.8g (at. wt. of Ag =108).
Reason (R) : The mass of a substance deposited during the electrolysis of an electrolyte is inversely proportional to the quantity of electricity passing through the electrolyte.
The correct answer is

A

Both (A) and (R) are true and (R) is the correct explanation of (A)

B

Both (A) and (R) are true and (R) is not the correct explanation of (A)

C

(A) is true but (R) is false

D

(A) is false but (R) is true

The correct Answer is:
C

Current (I) = 96.5A, Time (t) =100s, Weight of Ag (w) = 108
`Q = It = 96.5 xx100 = 9650 C`
108g of Ag is deposited by 9650 C
`therefore` Weight of Ag deposited by `9650 C = (108 xx 9650)/96500 = 10.8g`.
